Wind Power generation
The power converter is of great concern in wind power generation. It converts the unstable wind energy into electricity that meets the needs of grid connection through rectifiers and inverters.
Film capacitors in converters can help optimize the operation of wind power systems by improving turbine efficiency and transmission chain operation, reducing generator losses, increasing operating efficiency and improving wind energy utilization.

The selection of DC-link capacitor and AC filtering capacitor are based on the balance of the energy exchange durring the transient period.
Here are examples of DC and AC capacitors applied in a doubly-fed induction generator based wind turbin system:

From the above data sheet, the capacitance of 20000uf is choosed for 2MW induction generator, in order to achieve a high ride-through capability during power voltage sag, a large-capacity capacitor is the best solution. The layout of the capacitors will be 72 pcs of 4200uf 400VDC(4 connected in series and 18 group in parallel connection);
And 300uf is designed for LCL filter because of 10% absorbed reactive power at the rated condition. So the layout of the AC capacitor shall be 100uf 780VAC with delta connection. Please see the below capacitor layout, in practical we applied 10pcs of 10uf 780VAC connected in parallel, 3 group connected in delta way.
