Capacitors are designed with and without brackets, and with and without pressure switches which are utilized by equipment manufactures to shutdown equipment in the event that pressure builds up inside the metallized design capacitor can. For water cooled capacitors, proper water flow and water outlet temperature must be maintained as specified datasheet. Failure to provide adequate water flow will cause early failure of capacitors. The equipment manufacturer must determine what fusing is necessary to protect capacitors in their equipment. Protection must be provided by the equipment manufacturer to protect from re-closure or re-energization of a failed or shorted capacitor.

    In addition, regular maintenance and inspection of the capacitors are crucial to ensure their long-term stable operation. Check the water cooling system regularly to ensure smooth water flow and prevent clogging or leakage. Monitor the temperature of the cooling water outlet to ensure it does not exceed the specified limit. Inspect the pressure switch and ensure it functions properly. In case of any abnormal conditions such as increased pressure inside the capacitor, the pressure switch should trip off the equipment timely to prevent damage.

    Moreover, it is important to note that capacitors are sensitive to voltage and current fluctuations. Therefore, ensure that the power supply is stable and within the rated range of the capacitor. Avoid overloading or underloading the capacitor as it may affect its performance and lifespan.

    For storage and transportation, capacitors should be placed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated environment. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity. Handle with care to prevent mechanical damage to the capacitor shell or terminals.
